Of all the gear you need to ride an electric skateboard, the helmet is the most important. But for it to do its job effectively, it has to fit. Not only is it important to wear a helmet on every ride, it's also important that the helmet you wear is the right size and fits your head.
There are a few things every rider should know when it comes to getting the right helmet. Read this article to learn how to wear a helmet properly.
How do you fit your helmet for an motorized skateboard?
To fit an Electric Skateboard helmet properly, you should measure your head size and match it to the correct helmet size. Adjust the fit system straps so that the helmet is snug and secure without being overly tight. Make sure to adjust the chin strap to fit comfortably against your chin.
Step 1: Choose the right size
Measure your head with a cloth measuring tape or a piece of string and a ruler, then match your measurements to the size chart here. If you are between sizes, it is best to choose the larger size.
Step 2: Fine-tune your fit
Adjust the rear mounting system and shoulder strap dividers. Most rear mount systems work by turning the dial clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen. The straps of the electric powered skateboard helmet should lie flat on the head, with the strap dividers forming a "V" around the ears. Pull up any slack in the rear of the helmet. When you're done, press the divider bar to secure the shoulder straps in place.
Step 3: Check the Chin Strap
You'd be better off investing in an electric skateboard helmet with a chin strap to keep you safer.
You need to make sure it fits right through the buckle - then fasten it and hear it click shut. Adjust the chin strap so that there is enough room between the strap and the chin for one finger. If you have excess material on your chin strap, you can tuck it into the rubber strap holder or cut it off. If you cut it, leave at least 1" (25mm) of material behind the buckle, and be careful to melt the ends to prevent fraying. The strap is flammable, so don't touch the molten nylon until it's cooled.
Step 4: Enjoy Your Ride!
Wear your helmet every time you ride and make sure it's the right size, fit and fits your head. If you still have some questions about fit, or need some additional guidance, you can email us for some expert advice.
