Veymax® Electric Skateboard Drive Belt

Electric skateboard belt drive is a deceleration structure that uses a small gear to drive a large gear to amplify torque, thus improving acceleration and braking performance.

Put your board on its side and remove the rear wheel nut using the Y-Tool. Remove the belt cover using the 1/8th Allen key, and then the rear wheel, belt and pulley.
When the four motor bolts are exposed, use a 1/8th Allen key to loosen them slightly until you can slide the motor up and down the motor plate.
3. Reinstall the belt, pulley and wheel, then pull the motor towards the rear of the board until the tension is not too tight & not too loose - 5mm of play on the belt when pinching is optimal for street, all terrain setups should be slightly tighter! For street, tighten two of the four motor bolts on either side of the cog. For all terrain, tighten the only motor bolt you can access. The motor bolts should be tightened to ‘just past finger tight’.
4. Remove the wheel, pulley and belt to access the remaining motor bolts, then tighten them as well.
5. Reinstall the belt, pulley and wheel. Spin the wheel, then double check the belt tension. Reinstall the belt cover and wheel nut when you are happy with the tension.

The type of belt tooth for belt driven system of electric skateboard and the number of teeth of the main wheel are generally defaulted to HTD-5M and 15mm (16-17mm tooth for DIY mostly), than you need to know the center distance between the motor bracket, and choose the pulley that matches the wheel you need to use, than calculate the size of the belt you need for your electric skateboard.

The number of teeth of the main wheel: 15mm
Pulley : 36T with 90mm pu wheels

HTD stands for HighTorqueDrive. HTD type synchronous belt is characterized by large pitch, high strength, high load carrying capacity and is suitable for high torque transmission. It is commonly used in precision machinery and industrial equipment.

If the belt is too tight, the resistance will increase and the range will be reduced; if it is too loose, it will cause a tugging moment every time you accelerate and brake, which will cause the belt to break easily over time. So the right tension is very important that operate greatly, not easy to lead to debris involved, so the belt life is also long.
