5 Tips for Riding Electric Skateboards at Night Safer

E-skateboarding at Night

I love finding different parking lots, especially at night, because during the day they're always empty, there are cars and pedestrians, but at night you can just carve, you can shred, and you have the whole place to yourself. So when you're out at night, there's a lot more opportunity to find these great spots.

You've just had a stressful day and you can carve somewhere, have a few beers and hang out.

If you have the opportunity, you should definitely organise an event where you ride e-boards together at night. Each Electric Skateboard looks different, and in a city where everyone is watching you ride your motorized skateboards, energy is created.

Everyone had a lot of fun and it was a great moment to be part of the team. When you ride at night on a dimly lit sidewalk or street, you'll see these LED lights flashing on your skateboard, it gets a lot of attention. If you have a need, we also have a tutorial video on installing the tail lights that can be shared with you.

How to ride electric skateboards safely at night?

E-skateboards are a relatively new toy, and while there's little evidence that they're unsafe, it's always important to understand the risks involved when playing with any type of toy. While you always need to make sure you ride your electric longboard safely, you need to be more careful when riding at night.

Wear safety equipment when riding at night

Always wear a helmet when riding an electric skateboard, day or night. Your mind is not as stable as concrete. According to statistics, helmets can reduce the risk of serious fall injuries by up to 70%. They are not so heavy and very comfortable to wear. They also protect you from the cold while you ride.

Wearing a helmet does not make you less of a man or woman. It shows that you are an adult who takes your safety seriously. To ensure personal safety, there are many types of protective gear that you can wear while riding an e-skateboard. From reflective tape and helmets to elbow and knee pads, there is specialised protective gear for Veymax skateboards to protect you from minor accidents and impacts.

Keep your headlights and rear lights on

When riding your motorized skateboard at night, make sure your headlights and taillights are bright. It would be better if there is a blinking function.

Always make sure that other road users can see you. Even if you think the street lights around you are bright, please exercise caution and ride with your electric skateboard's front and rear lights on. This is not just a recommendation, but is essential for your safety and that of other road users.

Any accident can happen quickly if you're riding on a road with traffic. So keep your lights on to at least make you visible to oncoming traffic. For example, after noticing you on the road, good drivers measure how far away they should keep from you.

The more visible you are the better

When riding an electric longboard on the road, you are more vulnerable than other road users. If it's at night, your vulnerability increases significantly.

When riding at night, choose protective clothing such as reflective vests, which help ensure you are as visible as possible so that all road users can notice you. Especially since reflective vests reflect light from vehicle headlights, making it easier for drivers speeding toward you to spot you.

Aside from installing front and rear lights and wearing reflective clothing, there are some creative ways to achieve this. One of them is to use an LED strip, preferably a blinking one. Not only do these make your skateboard extra cool, but they're also impossible to ignore.

Avoid unfamiliar routes

It's fun to explore and ride new roads, but it's definitely not the best idea at night.

Our goal is to make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible while driving on the road. When you drive at night, you need to be alert. You want to know exactly what road you are on. The last thing you want is to be driving on an unfamiliar road and run into an unexpected situation, such as a sharp turn you did not know existed. Also, try to plan the route in advance and use the map on your cell phone to know the section of road you will be driving before you set off. This way you will know where intersections are and where to expect traffic and other chaotic activities.

Stay focused

Just as you expect other road users to be attentive when driving or biking, you should be too. The only difference is that you are more vulnerable than other road users, so you should focus on yourself.

Avoid listening to music while driving, especially at night. Take the earplugs out of your ears even if there is no music playing. Most earplugs have active noise cancellation, making it harder to hear what is going on around you. It is dangerous to ride an electric skateboard at night. You must be fully aware of your surroundings at all times.

Also, avoid talking on the phone while riding, and remember that this is prohibited in some areas for a reason.
