How to Properly Store Electric Surfboards in Winter?

Riding Electric Surfboards in Winter

In the cold winter, how to store Electric Foil Surfboards is a problem we often encounter. Storing an Electric Powered Surfboard during the winter months requires taking some precautionary steps in order to ensure your board is well-protected. Of course, we have our own experience with winter storage, and we also asked for feedback from different manufacturers and surfers for many years.

Many surfers still enjoy using their jetboards in the water, even in the cold winter months, but others have their boards cleaned and ready to be stored in the garage or storage until spring comes. However, do you know what to pay attention to when storing Electric Surfboards in winter?

Whether it is an electric hydrofoil boat or a jet board, the board should be thoroughly cleaned first. Especially if they are used in salty seawater. When surfing in the ocean, it is practically necessary to clean the board with fresh water after each ride. Therefore, before winter storage, it is necessary to work harder on cleaning surfboards. Rinse not only the Electric Hydrofoil Surfboard, but all hoses, contacts and cavities with clean water.

Then you have to let the Electric Jet Surfboard dry completely. Best in a boiler room with very dry and warm air. All compartments and cavities must be open. Let the Electric Surfboard dry there for at least 24 hours. After each use of your Electric Foil Surfboard in salt water, all electrical contacts should be cleaned with a contact cleaner for winter storage. Then lubricate the contacts with a seawater resistant lubricant.

Boards without batteries do not require high storage temperatures. Although all manufacturers recommend room temperature, temperatures at high latitudes can drop below zero for a considerable period of time. Therefore, Electric Powered Surfboards and all tubes must be kept 100% dry or they will freeze.

How to store batteries for Electric Surfboards?

We recommend storing Electric Hydrofoil Surfboard equipment in a safe, dry place between 22°C-28°C (72°F-82°F) and charging when needed, away from flammable objects and surfaces to maximize to ensure safety, optimum performance and longevity. If the battery is removable, remove the battery before storing. Keep Electric Jet Surfboards, batteries and accessories in a clean and well-maintained condition. Always store batteries and jet plates separately.

Efoil Battery Storage

For most people who settle in higher latitudes, they probably don't focus enough on extensive wetsuit riding, and with longer winters, your eFoil may be stored longer. Storing and caring for your eFoil battery during periods of inactivity is simple but important, so we've prepared this guide below.

Storage Conditions

Store eFoil batteries in a cool, dry place. The ideal storage state is 30-50% power. This will maximize your battery life.

Allowable temperature: -10 to 40C (14 to 104F)

Ideal storage temperature: 5 to 25C (41 to 77F)

Timely Charging

Like all lithium-ion batteries, LifteFoil batteries will slowly lose charge over time during storage. If stored for a long time (approximately 9 months to several years) and used, the battery may over-discharge and completely lose the ability to charge. To prevent this, and to prolong battery life, the battery should be plugged into a charger and charged every 6 months until it reaches 30-50% charge.

Wake up Battery

To wake up your battery after a long period of use, follow the normal charging instructions, there will be no special changes after a long period of inactivity. Remember to connect the data connector first, then the twist lock, and then plug the charger into the wall.
